Optical High-Information Streaming Components to Provide Faster Bandwidth, Efficiency and Power for the World’s Top Electronic Devices

GigOptix, Inc. (OTCQB: GGOX), a leading supplier of semiconductor and optical components that enable high-speed information streaming, today announced an agreement with Delta Electronics, Inc. (Delta), wherein GigOptix will supply 4-channel 10Gb/s VSCEL driver and receiver amplifier chipsets to enable Delta’s Active Optical Cables (AOC) and pluggable product offerings.

“GigOptix components will enable Delta Electronics to quickly get to market with competitive AOCs and pluggable products”

GigOptix’s HXT/R5 chip-set has been designed to support multiple applications ranging from 1Gb/s to 10Gb/s per channel. The advanced feature set of the HXT/R5 family enables customers to optimize the trade-off between power dissipation and performance of the optical link. Significant chip performance improvements have been made, as 30% less power dissipation at 10Gb/s than the previous chip generation, 2.0 dB better receiver sensitivity under typical operating conditions, and addition of advanced monitoring and power reduction functions.

“Our partnership with Delta Electronics will bring an entirely new level of data speeds and broadband access – Delta’s implementation of our HXT/R5004 chipsets for their QSFP AOCs and pluggables will enable their customers’ systems with lower power dissipation, simpler design, and better overall performance than any of the competitors,” said Dr. Raluca Dinu, General Manager and Vice President of the GigOptix Optics Product Line. “This partnership furthers GigOptix leadership in the high-speed information industry, and partnering with an innovative electronics provider like Delta is a big win for the industry.”

“GigOptix components will enable Delta Electronics to quickly get to market with competitive AOCs and pluggable products,” said Ted Kuo, Director, Broadband Module BU, CPBG, Delta Electronics Inc. “We selected GigOptix as our trusted partner because they bring years of experience in the parallel optical market, and our integration of their HXT/R5 solution is only the beginning of what will be a very profitable relationship for both Delta and our customers.”

About the HXT/R5 Series

GigOptix’s high performance chip set is comprised of a 4-channel and 12-channel VCSEL drivers and receiver amplifier chip sets. These chip sets are designed to enable ultralow power consumption of less than 450mW for a 40G link over 100m as well as minimize the components required to implement a transceiver, which results in lower costs. The HXT/R5 family incorporates programmable equalization and preemphasis circuitry to facilitate various trace lengths in addition to providing full programmable control via fully integrated Analog to Digital Convertors (ADC) and Digital to Analog Convertors (DAC) through an industry standard 2-wire interface.

Samples of the HXT/R5 Series are available with an evaluation board for evaluation with VCSEL and photodiodes. Sample requests can be ordered through sales@gigoptix.com.
